Horses have been part of my life for as long as I can remember...long before I ever thought about 'core strength' or 'alignment.' I've been the rider trying to sit the trot, the one overthinking everything, and the one wondering why my horse had other ideas. This lifelong experience shapes everything I do, and it's why I advocate for Pilates for equestrians. I understand riders because I am one, and I know how much better everything feels when your body starts working with you instead of against you. I truly believe in the power of Pilates to enhance rider fitness and build strength for riders, transforming the way you think about riding.

With over 30 years in the fitness industry, I bring a depth of experience that blends science, movement, and real-world application. As a certified Personal Trainer and a comprehensively trained Pilates Teacher for over 20 years, I also serve as a certified Health Coach, working with clients to build strength, resilience, and longevity in their bodies.
Over time, I began to see how directly this work translates to rider fitness, especially through Pilates for equestrians. Pilates develops the kind of balance, control, and body awareness that riders need but often struggle to find in the saddle alone.
In many ways, this groundwork is essential for the rider. Just as we prepare and educate our horses from the ground before we ask them to carry us, we need the same opportunity for ourselves. Off the horse, we can better understand how our bodies move, identify where we compensate, and create strength for riders along with dynamic stability with intention.
The reality is our bodies influence our horses, just as much as theirs influence us. When we take the time to train our own movement, we set the stage for clearer use of aids, better communication, greater performance, and a more harmonious partnership.
It's not just cross-training; it's essential training for riders.

At one point in my own riding journey, I realized I was missing something crucial. Under the guidance of a very insightful trainer, I learned the importance of slowing down and truly listening to my horse. I had been doing too much, overriding instead of allowing, and not fully recognizing the cues my horse was giving me, both on the ground and in the saddle. This realization was a humbling shift. As I began to step back, tune in, and apply what I teach about rider fitness, everything started to change. My riding became more fluid, my communication improved, and my partnership with my horse grew stronger than ever.
Connection changes everything. At its core is the connection between strength for riders and mobility, mind and body, and ultimately, rider and horse. This is fitness that respects the horse. When you engage in Pilates for equestrians and move better, your horse can move better too.
Suddenly, the aids become clearer, the ride feels smoother, and everything starts to click... almost as if your horse has been taking Pilates.
"Clarity in your body creates harmony in your ride."
